Located 25 miles northwest of Atlanta, Powder Springs is a small town that offers a variety of outdoor and recreational activities. The beautiful historic downtown and Towne Square host events, concerts, and shopping, and are also connected to the popular Silver Comet Trail.

Powder Springs is home to the Southern Quilt Trail, the Seven Springs Museum, and the nationally renowned Cobb County BMX park. The town also has numerous recreational parks, including the newly opened Seven Springs Water Park, as well as bike and pedestrian trails.

In addition to its local attractions, Powder Springs is located near popular tourism destinations in Cobb County and Metro Atlanta, such as Six Flags Over Georgia, Sweetwater Creek State Park, and Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield.

Powder Springs was originally incorporated as Springville in 1838 on land belonging to Cherokee Indian chiefs Chief Nose and Chief Ana Kanasta. The town was named after the seven mineral water springs found within its limits, which contained minerals that turned the surrounding sand black like gunpowder. In 1859, the town's name was changed to Powder Springs. Today, the town's mild climate, rich soil, and inviting springs offer both health and recreation to residents and visitors.
