Reynoldstown

Welcome to Reynoldstown, a vibrant and historic neighborhood located in the heart of Atlanta. Nestled just east of Cabbagetown and south of Inman Park, Reynoldstown is a welcoming community that is home to over 1,500 households.

Founded in the aftermath of the American Civil War by freed slaves who were employed by the railroad, Reynoldstown is named after Madison and Sarah Reynolds, two of the first ex-slaves to settle in the area. The neighborhood was annexed by the city of Atlanta in 1909 and has a rich history that is celebrated each year at the annual Wheelbarrow Festival.

In addition to its rich history, Reynoldstown is known for its diverse population and walkability. This friendly neighborhood is home to young families, first-time homebuyers, older residents, single professionals, artists, and students, all of whom have been drawn to Reynoldstown's welcoming nature, central location, and rich local history.

The homes in Reynoldstown have a wide range of architectural styles that includes early-20th century shotgun houses and bungalows, 21st century ultramodern homes, lofts, townhouses, condos, and apartments of all shapes and sizes. Reynoldstown was even named the 2014 Curbed Cup Atlanta Neighborhood of the Year!

One of the neighborhood's standout features is the Atlanta Beltline, which runs through Reynoldstown from Wylie near Flat Shoals to Memorial Drive at Bill Kennedy Way. The Beltline functions as a paved walking and biking trail and may also be used for transit purposes in the future. Just north of Reynoldstown, the East Side Trail of the Beltline stretches from Inman Park to Piedmont Park, passing through Old Fourth Ward, Poncey-Highland, and Virginia-Highland along the way.

The CSX railroad's Hulsey Yard forms the northern border of Reynoldstown, and there are ongoing efforts to connect the southeast Beltline to the Eastside Trail portion of the Beltline across the yard. The southern wall of the yard on Wylie Street is a popular location for street art in Atlanta. Reynoldstown is also home to Lang-Carson Park, a 3.24-acre green space that provides recreational opportunities for residents.

In all, Reynoldstown is a vibrant and historic neighborhood that is located in the heart of Atlanta and with its rich history, welcoming atmosphere, and central location, Reynoldstown is a great place to call home.
